We had Saturday brunch at this small lovely cafe, which had a distinct Scandinavian feel to the interior design.

Breakfast at the Anassa hotel, Cyprus

The breakfast buffet at the Anassa is so delicious and vast, it deserves its own dedicated blog post...

Day one: a bowl of delicious homemade Bircher muesli topped with two ripe plump sweetened figs. Followed by a hard boiled egg, then soft raisin bread covered with lashings of homemade marmalade.

Stunning setting for breakfast on the large terrace overlooking the hills, ocean and the stunning (sweet smelling) flowers. The ambiance: peaceful with the relaxing sound of little birds tweeting and the distant roar of the ocean.

Cute little kitten spying at me through the beautiful flowers.

Day two: pancakes with maple syrup served with fresh fruit (orange, grapefruit, apples and pineapple).

Day three: chocolate muffin, banana cake and cherry cake, all washed down with a cappuccino. Delicious.

Inside the Amphora dining room. Huge mirrors and windows create a light and airy feel. Beautiful outlook onto the ocean & the outdoor terrace, which overflows with flowers and numerous Olive trees.

Day four: Bircher muesli, fresh grapefruit slices and sweet plump grapes. Large glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.

Day five: poached egg on a large white fluffy bread roll.

Very tempting: some of the cakes to choose from:

Date of stay: November 2013.

Cafe review: WH (the 'Watch House'), Rotherhithe Village, London

What's the curbappeal?
-Quirky cafe set in a beautiful churchyard/park
-Those yummy cakes (see photo)
-Lovely area (Rotherhithe Village, Rotherhithe) - very historic. The Mayflower set sail closeby in 1620 and the local pub (also named The Mayflower)  is from the same period. Lots of period buildings closeby.

Ps. Curious about its name, the Watch House? Back in time, it was used to watch for grave robbers at St Mary's Church, opposite the cafe. Interesting!
