Hotel Review: Conrad, Koh Samui, Thailand

Award Winner: Curbappeal's 'Most Fabulous' Awards 2012: Best View on Arrival

What’s the curbappeal?
- We thought about simply writing “a picture is worth a thousand words” – see our iphone photos below and you’ll understand why - but to provide a bit of colour...

Jaw-dropping cliff-side location: secluded & tranquil with stunning views over nearby islands & a great spot to watch the sunset over the ocean

Uber-slick contemporary interior design

The villas are very private, huge & beautifully furnished: private infinity pool, sun terrace & dining area; ours was so nice we found it hard to leave...

Lovely spa treatments

The general feeling you've gone to heaven (views, room & service)

Crowd: was fairly quiet during our stay, but mainly Asian with some Westerners

Food rating: good but not as fantastic as expected. Some dishes amazing (e.g. burger) but others decidedly average. Mix of Asian & European food.

Our room: 223. One level below spa. All rooms are private but this one seemed even more so given its corner location.

The bill: We paid for a one bedroom villa and also for a private speedboat trip. Expensive but worth it.

Recommended: most definitely

With Love,
Ms. Curbappeal x

Restaurant review: Piazza By Anthony, Leeds (Yorkshire) UK. Saturday 15th December 2012.

It's Curbappeal:
- located in one of Leeds' iconic Victorian buildings - the Corn Exchange

The crowd: young, old, families & couples....i.e. all sorts

Food & drink rating: We thought we could be in for a treat when we spotted Anthony's also have a patisserie & bakery & we were not disappointed...we had the afternoon tea & it was simply divine. Fresh soft bouncy bread filled with lashings of smoked salmon, chicken & egg. Freshly baked scones & delicious melt in the mouth cakes. Given the generous portions we needed a 'doggy bag' for some of our cakes - the food was far too good to leave anything behind un-tried.

The bill: £10.95 for 'full afternoon tea' (i.e. sandwiches, scones, cakes & a pot of tea) was outstanding value given the excellent quality

Anything we didn't like: perhaps the service was a tad slow

Recommended: Most definitely. We normally head to Harvey Nic's for afternoon tea in Leeds, but decided to try out Anthony's & so pleased that we did - we will definitely be back!

Travel inspiration: Fisherman's Village, Koh Samui, Thailand

What's the curbappeal?
- lots of stylish but laid back bars and restaurants
- great beach with gorgeous views

An unexpected surprise as we thought it'd be very touristy and lack authenticity, but it's a lovely place for a stroll and to grab a drink or bite to eat
