Around town: Windsor, UK

Just 30mins by train from Central London, Windsor feels a million miles away from London...

Combine a trip to Windsor with a potter around Eton, just a few minutes walk away.

Time of visit: early evening, a Tuesday in August 2013

A quick look at Whatley Manor, Wiltshire

What's the curbappeal?
- stylish country retreat. Perfect for city-types looking to unwind.

I just popped in for afternoon tea. My egg mayonnaise sandwiches were divine - the brown bread was very fresh and generously filled with a lovely chunky egg mayo

Please see below for my photos of the hotel and it's grounds.

Hotel and restaurant review: The Old Parsonage, Oxford, UK

What's the curbappeal?
- delightful restaurant tucked away from the tourist crowds. Gorgeous old world exterior and interior.

I stayed here en route to the Cotswolds from London, to break up the journey. The rooms are very expensive (£300ish per night) for what you get, and the interior design wasn't to my liking, so I wouldn't recommend staying. But the restaurant is too beautiful to ignore, as is the food...
