Award Winner: Curbappeal's 'Most Fabulous' Awards 2012: Most
dramatic setting for a hotel
What’s the Curbappeal:
Where do we start?.....
- The setting is truly unique: transfer by luxury private speedboat …. luxury pixie-hut-style accommodation set amongst jungle-like landscaped gardens & flanked by dramatic limestone cliffs & encased by white talc-like beaches
- 'The Grotto', bar & restaurant, set partly within a cave. Only for hotel residents: watch the jealous day-trippers gaze up in envy from the beach. We opted for a private night-time BBQ here: sink you're feet into the white sand, watch the sunset and feast on delicious lobster, prawns & meats
- the huge communal infinity pool surrounded by palm trees & limestone cliffs & overlooking the clear turquoise ocean
- a few ‘traveller-style’ resorts next door & lots of tour boats in the daytime only, adds to the atmosphere & really makes you appreciate the luxury on offer at Rayavadee & enhances the feeling of exclusivity
- delicious food; amongst the best we had in Thailand. The fresh juices, salads & Thai food - all stunning
- amazing 6* service
Crowd: wide variety; Europeans, Americans, Russians & Asian
Food rating: Excellent
Our room: 3/17. Rooms are on 2 levels. People sit on their porches at night which creates a lovely cosy atmosphere. As most bungalows look the same from the outside, it’s easy to get lost, especially at night & you often see other lost-looking guests, but this adds to the atmosphere & after a couple of days you should get your bearings!
The bill: very expensive, but you cannot put a price on this place - it truly is the most unique setting for a hotel we've ever been to & so that's probably how the hotel is able to charge what it does
Anything we didn't like: the rooms could probably do with a refurb & the service was sometimes a little patchy (especially at breakfast)....but our biggest disappointment was that our stay was not long enough!
Recommended: without a doubt
With Love,
