Hotel Review: SLS, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California

What’s the curbappeal?

The strikingly unusual public areas designed by Philippe Starck: in the lobby and breakfast area you’ll find illuminated moose-heads and machine gun lamp stands paired with high-end contemporary Cassina furniture. The rooftop pool and deck features unique oversized mirrors, urns and artwork, as well as fabulous views over Los Angeles.

My room was more understated - calm, sleek and luxuriously appointed: think more custom Cassina furniture; a contemporary button-back banquette in butterscotch; crisp white 300-thread count Fili d’Oro linens and a glam brown faux mink throw. Lovely contemporary rainforest shower unit.

The spa is absolutely gorgeous: 5,000 square feet of pure, unadulterated, white-on-white chic. It’s going into the shortlist for my 2013 ‘Most Fabulous’ awards.
