Bar Review: Ocean Terrace, Georges at the Cove, La Jolla, California

What’s the Curbappeal?

- Gorgeous ocean views

- Glamorous vibe

- Perfect place to while away the hours

- Excellent choice for sun-downers

We just popped in for a glass of champers after a coastal walk. They’ve a fully-stocked bar and cocktails looked a speciality. As to food, I can’t comment - as we didn’t have any – but the menu focuses on modern Californian with hearty or healthy dishes depending on your mood. I liked the sound of ‘Marinated and Grilled Fresh Fish Tacos’; ‘chilled Japanese soba noodle salad with Seared Rare Ahi tuna’ and ‘Grilled White Shrimp with Tabbouleh Salad’. Downstairs is the contemporary restaurant, which I didn’t have time to visit.

Private Hotel Review: Seven4one, Laguna Beach, Orange County, California

What's the Curbappeal?

- An exclusive private hotel with 12 guest rooms (it’s a beach-side vacation rental retreat)

- Fresh contemporary interior (accented with a hint of retro)

- Coastal vibe

- Personal chef service

- Perfect for cool weddings and private parties (note: guest rooms cannot be booked individually) 

I loved that we were right on beautiful Laguna Beach; the gorgeous sunset from our suite and the neighbourhood – lots of quaint cafe's and restaurants within a 5-10 minute stroll

Hotel Review: Hard Rock, San Diego, California

What's the Curbappeal?

You might well ask…

…I did 'ummmm' and 'ahhhhh' about posting this review, given the historic brand positioning of the Hard Rock group but... this property is stylish, with...

- Fresh contemporary decor

- Hip rooftop pool, deck and bar

- Beautiful contemporary sushi restaurant (the San Diego outpost of London’s Nobu)

- Located in the historic Gaslamp Quarter

- Suits a fun-loving party-crowd

I didn’t see the rooms but, took a look at the hotels website and particularly like the Rock Star suites. They’re chock-full of super-glossy contemporary-design fabulousness. For those that like a bit of cachet with their room, there’s the Black Eyed Peas suite, designed by the music group. It’s not my favourite one (take a peek at the Diamond suite) but it’s certainly unusual...
