Bar review: Laganini, Palmizana, Croatia. 11th August 2012.

NB.This bar is reached by boat from Hvar

It's Curbappeal:
- back to nature chic (seating on sandbags, beautiful crafted natural wooden chairs & spot the seating in the trees!)
- relaxed setting by waters edge

Crowd: hipster & monied

Food & drink rating: we only tried the cocktails, they were delicious (esp the mojitios)

The bill: not bad

Recommended: most definitely, we could easily spend hours relaxing here

Restaurant Review: Meneghello, Palmizana, Croatia. 11th August 2012.

It's Curbappeal:
- relaxed homely feel
- reached through path through pine forest
- artwork all over the restaurant; from the walls to the ceiling
- sound of the breeze blowing through surrounding pine forests & chilled music

Style rating: arty but very homely

Crowd: lots of big groups; families & friends. All age groups.

Cuisine: everything! Huge menu but emphasis on very fresh seafood

Food rating: really excellent

Bill|: reasonable, especially for large potions of delicious fresh food

Recommended: most definitely. Come with a big group of friends/ family & spend a relaxed afternoon here eating & drinking followed by a snooze on the beach (c10mins down the hill).

Restaurant spotted: Zori, Palmizana, Croatia. 11th August 2012

On the way down to the beach from Meneghello restaurant we came across Zori...unfortunately we couldnt possibly eat another bite after our food marathon at Meneghello, but Zori looked good; white on white chic & right by the beach. Not quite as relaxed/ homely feeling Meneghello, but that's not a bad thing. We'd definitely like to try Zori next time

Bar Review: Hula Hula, Hvar, Croatia. Friday 10th August 2012

It's Curbappeal:
- great location to watch the stunning Hvar sunset
- on the rocks by the sea, its quite Cafe del Mar-esque, although with pumping house music & dancing on the beach, Hula Hula is definitely more of a party place

Style rating: cool beach bar

Crowd: groups of young people enjoying the sunset & warming up for a night out

Drink rating: hmmm...drinks in Hvar tend to be weak (not you're usual Continental European measures!), so this kinda spoils the cocktails

The bill: more pricey than your average bar in the centre of Hvar, but this isn't your average Hvar bar

Recommended: loved this bar (sunset, location & vibe). It's a Hvar institution - you need to go. Get there in time for sunset & stay for some 'party warm-up drinks' 7-10pm

Club Review: Carpe dein Beach , small island off Hvar, Croatia. 10th Aug 2012

NB. There are 2 Carpe dein's - one on Hvar (Carpe dein Hvar) & the other on an island c15mins off Hvar (Carpe dein Beach). We went to both - Carpe dein Hvar wasn't anything special but v busy & more a pre-club bar to Carpe dein Beach; Carpe dein Hvar closed at c2am the night we were there but Carpe dein Beach goes on until sunrise. Catch a boat to Carpe dein Beach right outside Carpe dein Hvar

It's Curbappeal:
- its unique; you need to catch a boat from Hvar to reach it & the club itself is outdoor, surrounded by pine trees

Style rating: back to nature...

Crowd: real mix - from backpackers to monied

Drink rating: hmmm...drinks in Hvar tend to be weak (not you're usual Continental European measures!), so this kinda spoils the cocktails

Music rating: music nor sound system were amazing, although maybe we were unlucky; apparently Saturday had better music (more mainstream) & was louder

The bill: more pricey than your average Hvar bar but worth it for the vibe. 70kr for vodka redbull (c£9). Entry at 150Kr (c£19)

Recommended: this club is a Hvar institution & it's pretty unique (how many clubs in the world do you catch a boat to & party under the stars?), which makes it a 'must do' in our opinion. NB. be prepared for bit of hectic scramble into boat from Hvar!
