Airport lounge review – Thai Airways first and business class lounge, Bangkok airport, Thailand – 18 November 2012

What’s the curbappeal?
- Beautiful modern architecture – sit at bar stools by the window and gaze at this beautiful building!
- Contemporary interior design – think cubist brown leather sofas and glossy black marble counter tops…

Hotel Review: The Sukhothai, Bangkok, Thailand. Saturday 17th - Sunday18th November 2012

What's the Curbappeal?:
- one of the only low rise hotels in Bangkok & set well back from the busy road
- peaceful central courtyard water feature
- Zuk bar has lovely outdoor area set within the water feature of the central courtyard
- restaurant setting surrounded by water is pretty unique
- lovely new s-class Mercedes limousines (with in-car wifi - which was very good!)

Crowd: largely Asian & American

Food rating: we only had a breakfast muffin & coffee from the small Gourmet Shop (Thimian) - they were jolly nice & it was v peaceful sat looking out onto the courtyard water feature

Our room: 804. Deluxe Suite. A huge space, set across connecting rooms - the bedroom & lounge (overlooking the central courtyard) & the huge bathroom & dressing area. Bed was very comfy.

The bill: fair

Anything we didn't like: we expected the hotel to be set over a larger garden/green area & felt most public areas were a little soulless. Room, whilst huge, also seemed quite dated, as did the hotel in general

Recommended: we'd rather just stop by here for a coffee & cake at Thimian cafe & relax in the courtyard or drop by at night (hotel certainly more attractive at night) for a cocktail at the The Zuk (outdoor) bar
